One cool thing about the male Persian gazelle is that during mating season, the area under its throat swells and becomes puffed up%u2014kind of like a balloon! That%u2019s where the name %u201cgoitered gazelle%u201d comes from.Like other gazelles, the Persian gazelle can run really fast. But what sets it apart is that it doesn%u2019t need to leap while running%u2014it can just keep up a smooth, steady sprint!In the past, the Persian cheetah was its biggest natural enemy. But unfortunately, cheetahs have become very rare and can now only be found in a few parts of Iran.Sadly, this beautiful runner is now in danger. Hunting, loss of habitat, and lack of food have all put the Persian gazelle at risk of extinction.
